
I thought it was a bit harsh. In general, I think that if someone has a gripe with how the message was delivered, they should voice their opinion to encourage dialogue instead of completely dismissing the song+video. But that’s an expectation reserved for a traditional hip hop magazine that has a commitment to the culture. It’s a business, and sensationalism drives web traffic. Unfortunately, Lupe’s response may have distracted people from the point he was trying to make.

I think there’s a lot of promise in independent hip hop, a lot of talent cats emerging and giving listeners a variety to choose from.
